How do I find you?

Once you have booked your initial consultation you will be emailed a confirmation which will have my address on it, with nearest cross street.  I am located in Frenchs Forest – a leafy suburb found close to both the Northern Beaches and North Shore of Sydney.

Can I park easily at your clinic?

Parking is available in the driveway or on the street

How do I book?

Bookings can be made through the website by clicking on the ‘Book Here’ heading on the menu. This leads to the appointment page where you select your appointment type, and a suitable date/time. Alternatively, bookings can be made by emailing Jacqui@wayofwellbeing.com.au or calling 0402139790.

How much does it cost?

Your initial Wellness Consultation and treatment session is $160.  Follow ups are $95.  Children are $160 for initial and $70 for follow up.  Distance consultations are $160 initial and $70 for follow ups.  Herbal medicine and supplements are additional.  If you are covered by private health you will be able to claim your treatment under your ‘extras’ cover.

How long is a treatment session?

Your initial consultation and treatment will be about 60 minutes and follow ups will be about 50 minutes.  This includes time to discuss your condition and any changes from appointment to appointment.  Acupuncture pins are left in for about 20 minutes which is included in this time.

What are the clinic opening hours?

Monday: 10am-2pm

Tuesday: 10am-2pm

Thursday: 10am-4pm

Saturday: 9am-1pm

How do I know if my condition can be helped with Acupuncture and/or Chinese Medicine?

Virtually any condition (physical, mental or emotional) can be identified in the framework of Chinese Medicine, and therefore a treatment protocol can be devised.  You are always welcome to contact us for a discussion before making your appointment.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

 Many people are often hesitant to explore this as a treatment option with the fear the needles or ‘pins’ will be painful or uncomfortable. The needles are as fine as a piece of hair and are often not felt at all, or only minDimally as they are inserted and removed.  On a very basic, physiological level they release endorphins into the blood stream and leave the patient feeling very relaxed and at ease.

How many treatments will I need?

That really depends on your condition, how long you have had it for and also how responsive you are to treatment.  As a start I always say to clients to expect a minimum or 4-5 treatments before we will have an idea of how you are going to respond.  Sometimes after a few sessions it is possible to start tapering off the frequency of treatment, but sometimes with more stubborn conditions a longer protocol is needed.  Some clients experience a noticeable improvement after just one or two treatments but this is certainly not expected for everyone.

What is cupping therapy?

Cupping therapy is an ancient technique where a vacuum is created in a glass ‘cup’ and this is placed in the skin to create suction.  This powerful modality is often used to relieve tight muscles, remove toxins, illness or cold from the body, treat old joint injuries and enhance blood circulation.  This may form part of your treatment plan or can be used as a stand-alone modality.

What is moxibustion?

Moxibustion involves the burning of the herb Mugwort which is usually tightly packed and rolled into a cigar looking shape.  This is then held above certain acu-points or areas of the body to heat and produce a therapeutic effect.Moxibustion therapy can be used for an endless amount of conditions and reasons, including pain and tightness, stiffness, to enhance blood circulation and to eradicate cold from the body.

Are Chinese Herbs safe?

At The Way of Wellbeing we only use products approved by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) which are of the highest quality and adhere to very strict quality manufacturing guidelines.

Are the herbs prescribed the smelly ones that need to be boiled in a special pot?

The Way of Wellbeing uses a variety of herbal medicine formats including liquid tincture, granules, and pills or capsules. No raw herbs are dispensed so no boiling required!

What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha, otherwise known as scraping, is where a special implement is used to scrape certain areas of the body to produce redness or light bruising. This process is not painful and brings wonderful benefits of increased blood flow, toxin release and fast healing to problem areas. It is often used with sore/tight muscular problems, old injuries or when experiencing certain illnesses.

How does Nutrition form part of my treatment plan?

Chinese Dietary Therapy can form an integral part of a client’s treatment regime. According to the principles of Chinese Medicine, foods have certain pathogenic factors which can help or hinder complaints and conditions in the body. Just like herbal medicine, foods can be healing in the themselves – full of vitamins, proteins and minerals – so the client is educated in choosing appropriate foods for themselves.

I keep seeing the term ‘Gut Health’ everywhere – what does this mean and how does it impact my condition?

Scientists have now been able to prove the link between the gut and the immune system, and the brain. This means that we can now link many conditions and the general health of the body back to the state of the gut. At The Way of Wellbeing we certainly take this into consideration, and your digestive health is always addressed and taken into account. If needed a probiotic and/or dietary changes may be prescribed.

What sort of Stress Management techniques are introduced at The Way of Wellbeing?

Acupuncture in itself is a very effective form of stress management – as well as many other things it releases endorphins into the blood stream and reduces the stress hormones in the body. Patients often report feeling deeply relaxed and calm on leaving the clinic. For clients coming in specifically for stress or stress-related conditions, while lying on the table having their acupuncture, they will be guided into certain breathing or visualisation techniques to enhance their treatment or their relaxation. Clients are also able to book in for either 30 minute or 60 minute one on one meditation/relaxation sessions.
